Maguire concern at temporary loss of Post Office on Cornagrade Road

Published: 14 March, 2018

Sinn Féin Enniskillen Town Councillor, Tommy Maguire, has expressed concern at temporary loss of Post Office services on the Cornagrade Road.

Councillor Maguire said,

"It concerns me greatly that no efforts appear to have been made by the Post Office to brief local elected representatives or the public on the loss of this vital public service.

"My colleague, MP for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, Michelle Gildernew has been in contact with the Post Office over the past week and they have advised that the loss of service is due to the resignation of the current postmaster.

"We have raised questions about how this can happen. Surely there is a minimum notification period prior to resignation which would allow the Post Office to ensure that there is no break in service?

"Once again we see the impact that privatisation has on public services. Inevitably the community are the ones who suffer.

"The Post Office have advised that services will be resumed in the area once a new postmaster has been appointed." - Ends/Críoch
