The commencement of £220,000 works on major cross border road is wonderful news - O'Reilly
Published: 25 January, 2017
Sinn Féin Erne East Councillor, Thomas O'Reilly, has welcomed the commencement of £220,000 works to improve the main route between Fermanagh and Monaghan.
Speaking from Newtownbutler, Mr O'Reilly said:
"The commencement of £220, 000 works on this major cross border road is wonderful news.
"The A34 Clones Road has been in serious need of resurfacing for a long time. Sadly, it is a road which has seen a number of accidents so it is good to see that this resurfacing is taking place.
"The works will help to prevent surface water lying on the road which will, in turn, help to reduce the number of accidents.
"As well as that, business, tourism and locals alike will all benefit from the road improvements which will help connectivity to and from the area.
"There will be a little disruption whilst these works take place and traffic is being diverted via the B533 Wattlebridge Road, which is also scheduled to have flood alleviation works commencing this March.
"This is further welcome news from Transport NI and adds to major works that are also being carried out on the Lisnaskea-Derrylin Road." - Ends/Críoch
