Sinn Féin Erne North Councillor, John Feely, has welcomed a decision by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to provide sports equipment for people with disabilities across the council area.
Speaking after the Regeneration and Community Council meeting on Tuesday the 13th December, Councillor Feely said:
"Disability Sport NI are receiving £25,000 in funding from Sport NI to provide an equipment pack specifically for people with disabilities in this council area.
"It is great news that Disability Sport NI are providing this resource to our area.
"We in the Council, recognising the large geographical size of the Fermanagh and Omagh District, took the decision to buy an additional pack also costing £25,000.
"This will ensure that there can be one pack at each of the larger leisure centres in Enniskillen and Omagh.
"We envisage, because of the rural nature of Fermanagh, that the equipment based in the Lakeland Forum would also be used to benefit the wider area at locations like the Castle Park Centre in Lisnaskea and the Bawnacre in Irvinestown.
"This will be a great resource for all who need them in our council area."- Ends/Críoch
