Greene calls on farmers to attend health and safety workshops
Published: 4 November, 2016
Sheamus Greene, Sinn Féin Councillor for Erne East, is calling on farmers to attend upcoming farm health and safety workshops.
Mr Greene said:
"The Rural Development Council has announced several farm health and safety workshops as part of the delivery of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2014-2020 - Farm Family Key Skills.
"Locally, there are workshops taking place in Omagh on 15th November and Roslea on 17th November which start at 2pm.
"The workshops will take place on the farm and are aimed at farmers, family members, and farm workers to raise awareness of everyday hazards present on the farm.
"Farmers will also be introduced to new construction requirements and to provide information on the 'Making it Safer' tool, a key requirement for the new Farm Business Improvement Scheme (FBIS).
"We should be doing everything possible to reduce the number of accidents that can take place on the farm. I would encourage local farmers, their families, and farm workers to register for one of these sessions and go along. " - Ends/Críoch
