Sinn Féin MLA, Seán Lynch, is calling on people to enjoy the benefits of discount travel tickets with Translink.

Speaking after a cross-party meeting with Translink to discuss public transport in Fermanagh, Mr Lynch said:

"There are a number of initiatives in place and I was happy to hear Translink reaffirm their commitment to value for money for customers being a key priority for them.

"They have an ongoing campaign 'Smart Moves' to encourage people to use good value travel tickets to travel.

"Initiatives include 'Smartlink', 'Family and Friends Tickets', '£2 day return ticket', the Sunday 'Bus Rambler Ticket' and the 'Ylink' which offers a third off bus and rail services for all 16-23 year olds including on the cross-border Enterprise plus attractive leisure/retail offers.

"Translink are currently in the process of visiting schools in Fermanagh to advise students of available fare options and I commend them and the Integrated Primary School in Enniskillen who are working together to promote sustainable travel methods to and from school. I would like to see this in all of our local schools.

"I, along with my party colleagues will continue to meet regularly with Translink and to lobby them to ensure that we have a good quality, efficient and affordable public transport system in our area." - Ends/Críoch
