Have your say on future of Irish language funding - Maguire
Published: 14 October, 2014
Sinn Féin Councillor Tommy Maguire has encouraged people to have their say on the future of Irish language funding.
The Enniskillen based Councillor said;
"Foras na Gaeilge is currently carrying out a consultation on the ongoing review of Scéim Phobail Gaeilge.
"This includes proposals for radical changes to the way Irish language organisations are presently funded.
"I have concerns about some elements of the proposals, including plans to introduce geographical criteria in the funding process rather than base applications solely on need.
"It is essential that people have the opportunity to have their say on these proposals and I would encourage anyone involved in the Irish language to take part in the consultation.
"Responses to the consultation need to be in by 1pm on November 21st."
Responses should be sent to to;
